Firm History
In 1977, Kevin's father, Roy S. Bennett, Jr. purchased the building at 11125 Johnson Dr, and operated his law practice from there for 23 years. When Roy unexpectedly passed away in April of 2000, Kevin elected to resign his partnership in a large Overland Park-based law firm and return to Shawnee to take over his father's practice. Kevin's mother Karon served as Roy's legal assistant prior to his death and continued on with Kevin until her retirement in 2004.

Mark, Diane and Kevin all previously practiced together for the same law firm and were familiar with one another's values, talents and skills. After a few years of prodding, Kevin convinced Mark that he should join him in Shawnee and they formed Bennett & Bodine, P.A. in 2004. Shortly thereafter, in light of their deep commitment to downtown Shawnee, they undertook a significant exterior remodeling of the 1920's era rock front building they called home. About the time the paint dried and the new sign was hung, they successfully recruited Diane, a Shawnee native, to join them in the practice and the name of the firm was changed once again to Bennett, Bodine & Waters, P.A.

Having practiced for a number of years prior to owning their own firm, Diane, Mark and Kevin were keenly aware of the importance of an experienced, knowledgeable and friendly staff to be able to take care of their clients' various needs.
Fortunately, they were able to hire paralegal Shelly Wade and legal assistant Amanda McCann with whom they also had the privilege of working previously. Shelly and Amanda each bring a wealth of experience and professionalism to their positions and work very hard to make our clients feel at home.

The entire team of Bennett, Bodine & Waters is dedicated to professional, zealous and compassionate service to their clients. The firm strives to maintain that "hometown" feeling that clients appreciate when the unfortunate need to see a lawyer arises. We welcome your trust and confidence.
